If you are comparing private jet rental prices by route, then the first figure to fix is distance. A short hop like Los Angeles to Las Vegas (199 nautical miles) prices very differently from New York to Los Angeles (2,129 nm). Hourly rates for light jets run $3,800 to $5,800, and midsize jets $5,200 to $7,800, so the same route can produce a wide spread depending on aircraft class. Our route pages show estimates built from those bands.
For a Los Angeles to Las Vegas flight, a light jet estimate is $4,000 to $6,000. That is the low end of the market, driven by a 47-minute flight time and a one-hour minimum. At the other extreme, New York to Los Angeles in a light jet takes about 6 hours 15 minutes and prices at $23,500 to $36,000. Most travelers land somewhere in between: Chicago to New York is 619 nm and $7,000 to $10,500.

How we estimate route prices
Every route estimate starts with the great-circle distance between the two airports, plus a 5% routing allowance for departures, arrivals, and air traffic control. We then divide by the class cruise speed (430 knots for light jets, 440 for midsize, 470 for super-midsize) and add 0.3 hours for taxi, climb, and descent. That is how a 199 nm leg like Los Angeles to Las Vegas lands at about 47 minutes in a light jet.
Prices are then built from published hourly rate ranges: turboprops at $2,200 to $3,500 per hour, light jets at $3,800 to $5,800, midsize at $5,200 to $7,800, super-midsize at $7,200 to $10,000, and heavy jets at $9,500 to $14,500. A one-hour minimum applies, so short flights are priced at no less than one hour of time. All figures are estimates, not quotes. Flights are arranged through FAA Part 135 operators who hold operational control; as a DOT Part 295 broker, we act as your agent.
Inquiries
What are typical private jet rental prices by route for a light jet?
Light jet estimates range from $4,000 to $6,000 on short legs like Los Angeles to Las Vegas (199 nm) to $23,500 to $36,000 on New York to Los Angeles (2,129 nm). The spread reflects flight time, since light jets cruise at about 430 knots and hourly rates run $3,800 to $5,800.
How much does a private jet cost from New York to Miami?
A light jet on New York to Miami (949 nm) is estimated at $10,000 to $15,000, with a flight time of about 2 hours 37 minutes. Midsize jets price higher but carry 7-9 passengers, which can lower the per-person figure for a group.
Are prices the same for turboprops and jets?
No. Turboprops run $2,200 to $3,500 per hour and cruise at about 300 knots, so they are typically cheaper on shorter routes. Light jets at $3,800 to $5,800 per hour are faster, which matters more as distance increases. The right class depends on your route length and passenger count.
Do you own the aircraft?
No. We are a charter broker acting as your agent under DOT Part 295. Flights are operated by FAA Part 135 operators who hold operational control, maintain the aircraft, and provide the crew. We arrange the trip and compare options across operators.
What is the shortest flight you can book?
There is no fixed minimum distance, but a one-hour minimum applies to pricing, so a 47-minute flight like Los Angeles to Las Vegas (199 nm) is billed at no less than one hour. That is why short legs often land at $4,000 to $6,000 regardless of exact distance.
How do international routes like Miami to Nassau work?
Miami to Nassau is 161 nm and prices at $4,000 to $6,000 in a light jet, with about 42 minutes of flight time. Because it crosses a border, CBP clearance is required on arrival. We confirm passport and customs details when arranging the trip.
